A law firm specializing in wills, trusts, and estates is actively recruiting a full-time Paralegal with outstanding organizational and communication skills in Richmond to assist attorneys by handling matters in Probate and Trust administration.This position includes all areas of the estate law practice areas that do not require a law degree, and often requires substantial client contact in the form of meetings, phone calls and emails.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Manage and organize case files and documents
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in the legal process
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings
- Maintain calendars and schedules for court appearances and deadlines
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may affect cases
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective case management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Paralegal in the area of Probate, Accounting or Estate Administration
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research databases
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with state and federal court systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
