Position Purpose:
Responsible for directing and scheduling a wide variety of skilled and technical tasks associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of surface water filtration plant. Employees use acquired skills, knowledge and independent judgment to train, direct, and lead other skilled, semi-skilled, and manual labor classes to properly accomplish the work.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, schedules, and coordinates the work of subordinates;
provides training, direction, and leadership as needed or requested by crew members.
Ensures that proper safety standards and precautions are developed and implemented for each assigned project and that employees are properly trained before any work begins.
Ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and in good working order before assignment to a project or crew.
Directs plant operation and maintenance activities including valve, pipeline, manhole, hydrant, and catch basin maintenance and repairs and assigns resources to complete assignments.
Directs laboratory testing and quality assurance/control activities.
Ensures each assigned project has adequate supplies, materials, and equipment available for efficient use of crew;
performs job safety analyses for each assigned project;
prepares necessary forms and paperwork to order supplies, equipment, and materials as required.
Inspects all work for proper safety, construction, repair, restoration, or cleaning to assure that work is properly and efficiently completed in full compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
Prepares reports and maintains records necessary to document and track work;
maintains employee, equipment, supplies and material records for each project.
Uses computer and associated software as required.
Assist Project Manager with Maintaining regulatory contractual compliance of the Project.
Assist Project Manager in administering management policies and directives, trains and evaluates subordinate staff.
Assist Project Manager with capital project cost forecasting and budgeting.
Participates in collaborative efforts to promote drinking water and the Suez brand.
Conducts performance evaluations of staff.
Assists in hiring/interviewing staff.
Assists in conflict resolutions.
Promotes safety practices and procedures by training employees, reporting unsafe conditions and proactive participation in safety activities on a daily basis.
Takes ownership and action in place of Project Manager when they are unavailable.
Operates and certifies that all equipment and processes are in full compliance with laws/regulations.
Evaluates all data and information pertaining to the proper operation of the water plant and files required regulatory documents.
Prepares reports and documents related to the operations and assures work is completed accurately and according to standard practices/procedures.
Maintains records on work activities, inventories and material ordering, prepares reports on operational and service activities.
Oversees all maintenance activities and projects.
Initiates and/or recommends new or improved practices and procedures.
Organizes and manages health and safety programs and training of staff.
Ensures all equipment is in proper working condition, oversees and coordinates preventive maintenance/repairs on equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
