JOB TITLE --- Milling / Lathe Machinist
LOCATION ----- Torrance CA - 90504
Duration ----- 6+ Months Contract (Extendable)
Job 1 - Machinist II -Lathe - Primarily lathe position running older Fanuc controlled machines
Job 2 - Machinist II -Milling - Primarily milling position running 5 machines with frequent setups
Shift -2nd shift - 2:

$28/hr
Description:
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a solid background and experience in Client Machine shop to move into the role of Machinist Level 2 supporting our Torrance OEM production. THIS IS NOT A MACHINE OPERATOR POSITION, qualified candidates will likely have gone to specialized schooling. Must be able to measure tolerance and manipulate metal into different shapes.
External Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to interpret basic machinist drawings.
- General knowledge of metrology and ability to use calipers and micrometers
- Knowledge of basic shop math, .
- Performs multi-tasks with minimal supervision
-Capable of keeping multiple machines efficiently running while monitoring quality.
- Work well in a team oriented environment as well as promotes and encourages teamwork and team building
- Ability to Read and write in the English language
- Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime, including weekends
- Basic computer skill necessary.
Additional Qualifications:
- Practical Work experience in a machining environment required.
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and correct surface plate setups.
- Basic understanding of G code
- Practical knowledge and experience with all machine shop precision measuring equipment,.
-Able to perform NC machine setups unsupervised (including boring of jaws on lathes)
-Able to identify proper tooling and inserts
-Responsible for monitoring and adjusting offsets
