As a MES Engineering Manager, you will be a senior technical expert in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) space contributing to the advancement of MES capabilities and process digitalization at AbbVie. This extends from the back-end infrastructure management, system-to-system integration, to front-end use of MES and shopfloor execution technologies. This role will lead a team of technical engineers responsible for the platform and application engineer activities in the MES space. The MES Engineering Manager will work across technology and process groups across multiple disciplines and will manage all areas of SLC for our digital platforms in the MES space.
In this role you’ll be responsible for:
Designing, engineering, and implementing data, software, or technology solutions by studying information needs;
conferring with users;
studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes;
investigating problem areas;
Routinely demonstrate initiative and creativity in developing technology solutions.
Serving as technical expert or leading projects/programs and technical staff to develop, test and implement significant new products, operational improvements, or devise new approaches to problems at the division/business unit.
Analyzing and resolving technical problems using analytical problem-solving methods/techniques and associated tools/devices.
Contributing to the advancement of functional capabilities by studying state-of-the-art tools, techniques, and computing equipment;
participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
Demonstrating high proficiency across a wide range of technologies and platforms related to software design and development, programming languages, data integration, data warehousing, data analysis and visualization tools, data storage, network connectivity, and virtualization/cloud environments.
Demonstrating knowledge of the pharmaceutical and healthcare business and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions.
Operating in a highly autonomous environment, in performing activities requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.
Total project scope, budget, completion within budget constraints and scheduled completion date. Accountable for successful and timely completion of all tasks/projects under direct and matrix control.
Initiating new areas of investigation that are meaningful, reliable, and can be incorporated directly into a scientific or business activity.
Maintaining relationships with affiliates, subsidiaries, and vendors in accordance with AbbVie Values, Vendor Management Office, and Purchasing to further the mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
Understanding and adhering to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.
Mentoring/supervising a team, while guiding and evaluating the performance of those individuals.
Tools and skills you will use in this role:
Windows server administration
Infrastructure design and security hardening experience
Network administration experience (to support troubleshooting)
Oracle Database experience (primarily query writing)
MES Administration/Troubleshooting (POMSnet preferred)
End user compute experience
SLC
