AECOMis seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our downtown Detroit office or Minneapolis office. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual to join our dynamic team and be part our international engineering practice. This individual will design HVAC and/or plumbing for healthcare, corporate office, clean rooms, labs, and high tech clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions for unique projects, mentoring a team, and developing calculations, construction drawings, design reports, and specifications to support mechanical and plumbing portions of design work in accordance with building codes.

Job Description:
Applies advanced knowledge to develop design procedures software and tools to facilitate high quality cost-effective technical project activities.
Be proficient in all aspects of plumbing/HVAC systems design for projects of all sizes
Evaluate, select, apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and judgement based on experience to design plumbing/HVAC systems in buildings using building information modeling.
Conducts interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Make major design decisions and recommendations with little input from senior staff
Oversees the development and implementation of technical approach and the completion of complex work which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
Assist with mentoring of junior staff
Meets with clients and oversees all aspects of the project to ensure client needs are met
Be self motivated with strong work ethic
Take pride in and ownership of your work
Concisely express complexsystem solutions in very early design phases
Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files
Act as an adviser and review documents prepared by junior project team members
Assist in project quality control review
Review and approve shop drawings, respond to RFIs and other administrative tasks
