Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Material Process Engineer or a Principal Material Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA within the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence (PAICoE) organization.
This position is a 3/10, 2nd shift position (workdays - Friday, Saturday, Sunday). You will work 30 hours but get paid for a 40-hour work week.

The selected candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans. You will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems, and also apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
Note:
This position can be filled at an Engineer Materials and Process / Principal Engineer Materials and Process level.
Basic Qualifications for a Material Process Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 2 years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree in STEM.
Experience working with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials;
Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for composite structures.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.

Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 5 years of relevant industry experience, Master's degree in STEM and 3 years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD in STEM.
Experience working with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials;
Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for composite structures.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science
Relevant experience with working on military aircraft
Experience with preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Knowledge in material testing and lab equipment
Experience in writing and maintaining material and process specifications
Salary Range:
$79,300 - $118,900
Salary Range 2:
$97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
