Summary:
This position will provide both classroom and shipboard practical maintenance training on major deck equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will assist Ships Force with deck machinery to include but not limited to, Anchor Windlasses, Boat Davits &
Winches, Monorails &
Hinged Ramps, Mooring Capstans, Boat &
Multi-purpose cranes / Booms, and underway replenishment equipment, Sliding Pad eyes, Bollards, and Capstans on all classes of Surface ships within the Pacific Fleet operating area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists in conducting a systems-knowledge Pre-Test evaluation for assigned systems for Ships Force attending training.
· Assists in providing classroom training on theory and systems operation and maintenance practices and procedures.
· Assists in providing deck-plate practical training period (dependent on the ship class and system size) using live system operation and preventative maintenance actions as a training opportunity.
· Assists in conducting system knowledge Post-Test evaluation for the Ships Force personnel attending training.
· Assists ships force in performing necessary adjustments, repairs and testing to components and equipment IAW NAVSEA technical manuals guidance, ICMP, and PMS.
· Provides recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
· Additional tasks and duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Minimum (6) years of experience with either shipboard marine mechanic or skilled trades experience with related mechanical maintenance and repair experience
· Five (5) years experience in administration of the Navy 3M and supply system
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or other mechanical technical data pertaining to the construction and operation of naval equipment.
· Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense confidential security clearance and base access.
The physical job requirement involves but is not limited to, walking, standing, reaching, bending-over, grasping, kneeling, concentrating in the presence of loud noise, lifting items up to 50 lbs., traversing narrow passageways, climbing ladders/stairs, having dexterity, as well as visual skills and operating in a shop environment where mechanic equipment is operated, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components.
