Maintenance Planner

Job Description
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Planner will visit all sections to monitor maintenance activities and to ensure ample spare parts availability underground. Plans maintenance activities, short term and long term. Schedules work force and materials to keep the mine equipment and systems at peak performance. Tracks maintenance data and equipment performance to maintain or improve equipment performance and to maximize productivity for a 7 day a week 3 shift a day operation. Maintains the IFS System and uses it for planning and performance improvement. Plans and Manages maintenance costs against the mine plans and maintenance budget.
Job Specific and/or Technical Skills Required:
Read, understand, and use maintenance drawings and schematics. Have a working knowledge of Federal and State Laws, UMWA Contract, and Company Policies. Computer literate, windows, Microsoft office including Outlook and is literate in using IFS system.
Major Responsibilities:
Ensure safe and legal compliance in all maintenance systems and activities.
Monitor all CM and Outby Equipment movement to ensure compliance with permissibility. Is responsible for keeping all permissibility books updated with equipment moves and locations.
Plan and monitor all assigned maintenance activities
Coordinate maintenance activities with appropriate supervisors and area manager.
Ensure compliance with UMWA contract for area of responsibility.
Ensure safe operation and condition of maintenance systems and equipment.
Plan and schedule maintenance work to minimize overtime requirements.
Develop work orders prior to work being performed. Track parts, and manhours required to complete tasks. Monitor and track work order completion by foremen.
Ensure compliance of work order completion
Create, track, and review weekly backlog of work orders needing to be completed.
Develop maintenance plans.
Manage the major component tracking system through IFS.
Assist the maintenance manager with the coordination of skills training for maintenance personnel.
Maintain the equipment register and Plant Model.
Develops and tracks PM’s.
Plans and coordinates maintenance activities through CM Maintenance Manager
Performs failure analysis and process improvement to control or eliminate equipment failures.
Plan daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance projects with the aid other managers.
Track equipment costs and downtime to assist CM Maintenance Manager in developing annual maintenance budget.
Coordinate equipment utilization and movement with Production and Maintenance Managers.
Track, plan and manage equipment rebuilds and provide final evaluation before return to operation.
Manage daily and monthly maintenance costs.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend replacement and schedule maintenance by analyzing and documenting data that has been collected from vibration analysis, infrared, motor meggering, oil samples, thermography and Ultra-sound measurements.
Assist management to resolve technical problems through supporting a proactive team oriented problem-solving process.
Review mine plan for terminal group rebuilds;
work with purchasing toobtain quotes and assist in getting UOE’s written.
