The Opportunity:
Are you a prehistoric enthusiast ready to embark on an exhilarating adventure with Mattel Inc? We’re on the lookout for a highly skilled, experienced, and self-motivated Lead Designer to join the Action Figure product design team. In this role you will create product opportunities for the Jurassic World franchise. From ferocious dinosaurs to intrepid heroes, your designs will capture the wonder of fans everywhere.
Collaboration is at the core of what we do. You’ll be teaming up with a diverse array of passionate individuals from multiple disciplines including product design, development, marketing, packaging and more. Together, we’ll brainstorm, innovate, and turn bold ideas into reality that are then translated into successful product.
As Lead Designer, you must be well versed in conceptualizing and expressing big ideas across multiple touchpoints for the JW franchise. Your job will be to sketch out product ideas with an understanding of the consumer, trends, and technology. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate will possess proven product design experience showing ability to work on challenging and fun products as well as ideating new concepts. You must be a self-starter and able to manage a variety of projects at once.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Actively generate new ideas and toy features to enhance the brand
Execute on both product and graphic designs
Design and develop figurine, playsets and new ways to play within the brand
Build consensus between members throughout the design process
Manage the early phases of design and development, collaborating with Development, Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and marketing objectives
Daily communication and collaboration with Asia partners
Present and communicate concepts to the design and marketing team
Work through the design process:
brainstorming, ideation, and creating presentation materials to execute products to completion
Think strategically;
envision how each product segment compliments the broader Mattel portfolio and stands apart from the competitive set
Efficiently manage and deliver multiple projects on schedule
Function as a brand steward to ensure standards are maintained with our cross-functional teams and external partners
Embrace a show-to-shelf ideology
Take a strategic approach to address challenges and create solutions
Work with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback on our work and our processes to ensure the project aligns with expectations
