Requirements
Craft stunning and intricate environments filled with rich detail and compelling scene compositions.
Engage in deep collaboration with level and game designers to bring the artistic vision to life, aligning closely with gameplay dynamics.
Spearhead the design, creation, and implementation of 3D game levels, weaving together aesthetics, gameplay, and narrative into a cohesive experience.
Develop high-quality textures and materials, ensuring alignment with the game's artistic direction and style.
Embrace feedback from the team and playtesters, iteratively refining environments to achieve excellence.
Utilize reference art and imagery to meet visual objectives and adhere to specific art styles.
Contribute insights on modeling and texturing needs essential for environment realization, ensuring seamless integration for an immersive player experience.
Innovate and refine level creation pipelines and workflows, enhancing efficiency and scalability.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Collaborate with executive producers to determine staffing requirements, leading the interview and hiring processes with insightful feedback and decisions.
Maintain transparent communication with producers to align on goals and schedules.
Oversee team performance, address conflicts, and escalate concerns as necessary to promote retention and overall studio success.
Mentor and coach art team members, identifying training and development opportunities to bolster team skills and cohesion.
Cultivate a culture of recognition, feedback, and open communication, ensuring a positive, creative work environment.
Required Skills &
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience as a Level Artist, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably within AAA game development for console and/or PC.
Involvement in shipping at least 2 AAA titles as a Level Artist for PC or console.
Expertise in 3D modeling software (e.G., Maya), texturing tools, and Unreal Engine.
A compelling portfolio that displays a knack for environmental storytelling, composition, and visual aesthetics.
A keen eye for scene elements that enhance immersion, including color, shadow, silhouette, and asset arrangement.
An understanding of the interplay between environments and gameplay.
Creative problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and a deep passion for game development.
Nice to Have:
Experience establishing and troubleshooting environment art pipelines in UE4 and UE5.
Familiarity with ShotGrid (Shotgun), Jira, or other project management tools.
Experience in creating assets and integrating them into the game engine.
