Job Description
Under general direction, you will be responsible for managing the ongoing care and maintenance of medians and open spaces in the City's public right of way. While staying knowledgeable of the current practices and technology in your areas of responsibility, you will plan, coordinate, assign and supervise the activities of personnel engaged in the care and maintenance of assigned areas. As a Landscape Manager, you will be a representative of the Public Works Department at community and civic group meetings as well ascoordinating,developing, and leading volunteer projects.
Essential Duties:
As a Landscape Manager (0922), your duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Plans, coordinates, assigns, and delegates assignments leading teamsupervisors and other staffengaged in the care and maintenance of medians and open spaces.
Monitor, evaluateand developthe performanceof staff.
Manage staffrequests for work schedule adjustments.
Ensuring your team’s supervisors are properly monitoring and documenting performance, behavior, and attendance patterns;
preparing, presenting, discussing and signs performance appraisals;
providing guidance and counseling for assigned staff.
Create and prepare documents for service contracts;
assist with capital projects from construction design, site inspection and coordination throughproject completion.
Administering, tracking and coordinating the budget and the expenditures for each fiscal year. Creatingvehicle and equipment purchase proposalsforannual budget requests to meet the projected needs of the team.
Coordinating andsustaining cooperative working relationships with City departments, public organizations and individuals in the planning, design, development, construction, and/or repairs of facilities.
Recommends and enforces safety requirements and manages safety programs and records, conducts and supervises periodic inspection of all grounds, structures, dog parks, and equipment to assure public and work safety;
plans and coordinates staff training and development to provide safe and efficient accomplishment of Departmental and program goals.
Represents the Department at meetings of community groups, and other civic groups;
Manages Department-wide integrated pest management programs for all facilities, and grounds, and keeps comprehensive records related to pesticide use.
