JOB SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. The Lab Technician will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests reporting the finding to the Clinic Manager. Receives, labels and analyzes samples (blood, toxic, tissue etc.). Designing and executing laboratory testing according to standard procedures. Conducts experiments under defined condition to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
Include, but not limited to, the following:

Perform serologic, chemical, bacteriologic, immunohematologic, and microscopic procedures and related duties, to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Perform accurate and appropriate testing on laboratory specimens/collections according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.
Report results in a timely manner.
Discuss and answer any questions regarding the results.
Organize and store samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure personnel's safety and integrity of the sample.
Troubleshoot instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimen/product problems using standard laboratory technique as required.
Perform laboratory quality control, including reporting discrepancies and troubleshooting according to established procedures and protocols.
Maintain equipment records and daily work logs.
Take appropriate action to assure quality results/products are provided for use by providers, nurses, patients.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, as needed maintenance and calibrations on instruments and equipment to meet all quality requirements.
Conduct verification tests on new products, instruments, procedures which includes comparisons, statistical analysis as requested.
Perform quality audit data collection, technical policy/procedure development, inspection assistance, donor files under the direction of laboratory management.
Maintain workflow in clinical laboratory through proficiency in testing and maintaining work areas, supply stock, monitoring and assistance in management of inventory.
Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
Record all data and results in specified forms with accuracy and accountability.
Ensure that all safety guidelines are always followed strictly and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Assist in training and orientation of new associates. Covers other staff when needed, including traveling to another clinic.
Stay updated on current technical and scientific advances in their field to perform best practices.
Maintain CLIA paperwork and standards.

Cleans and sanitizes waiting room, bathroom, exam rooms, office spaces, etc. as needed.
Other duties as assigned to support the efficient operations of the Tribe.
Requirements
General Requirements:
Must be insurable through the Tribe’s vehicle insurance required.
Must pass a criminal and fingerprint background check according to P.L. 101-630 standards required.
Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening required.
Must successfully complete the Laboratory Technician credentialing process required.
Education &
Experience:
Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a related field required.
Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards, etc.) required.
In-depth knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures and laboratory best practices required.
Preferred one (1) year experience as a Lab Technician or relevant position.
License &
Certification:
Must possess, maintain, and provide proof of a valid Driver’s License required.
Must possess, maintain, and provide proof of a calid ASCP or ASCP-I Certification required.
Must obtain, maintain, and provide proof of a valid First Aid, CPR and/or BLS Certified (Red Cross or American Health Association) within three (3) months of hire required.
