JOB SUMMARY:
AECOM is in search of an energetic Junior Electrical Engineer to join our creative Rail and Transit team in the vibrant city of Oakland. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to electrical designs for industrial and commercial power systems under the guidance of our Senior Engineer and Mid-level Engineers. As part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Engineers and Specialists from various disciplines (including Systems Engineering, Signals, Data Communications, and Project Controls), you'll collaborate with Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Signals Engineers, Analysts, and Coordinators to support exceptional outcomes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the development of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies related to industrial and commercial power systems.
Ensure design components meet pertinent industry codes and standards, as well as client expectations, under supervision.
Work closely with drafters/designers and other engineers in creating designs for distribution power systems, including One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, and physical layouts.
Participate in the problem-solving process on design and engineering issues, contributing ideas and solutions.
Engage with the team and clients professionally, addressing technical topics and assisting in resolving discrepancies.
Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work with the team on schedules, project budgets, and collaboration.
Contribute to project planning, risk management, and performance optimization.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
