Job Objective
To promote the mission and values of the Greene County Public Library. To carry out objectives and goals of the strategic plan to better serve the community. To perform a variety of ongoing technical and operational support duties necessary to maintain the library's computer network. To install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computers, printers, and other peripherals. To assist staff according to established procedures while maintaining a positive customer service attitude.
Requirements
Essential Job Functions
Maintains user permissions, accounts and groups.
Provides first line support for hardware, software, network, telephone system and Integrated Library System software.
Performs network system analysis and minor system tuning on an ongoing basis.
Troubleshoots software and hardware problems on workstations and in relation to the network and Internet.
Installs cabling and communications equipment, related software packages and sets up workstations as needed. Installs and configures computer hardware and devices.
Performs backups, runs reports and keeps logs.
Performs minor repairs on computers and equipment not covered by service contracts.
Maintains Integrated Library System software with necessary programs and performs upgrades.
Communicates with vendors on technical problems.
Gathers statistics, prepares reports, and completes other projects as assigned.
Writes documentation on procedures for system operations and trains staff on these procedures.
Responsible for providing brief instruction on computer use and answering general questions on-site after installation of workstations.
Advises Systems Manager on technical issues and purchase of computer related items.
Maintains system inventory.
Performs software upgrades.
Keeps abreast of current developments in the field through attendance and participation in conferences and workshops and through programs of continuing education, professional reading, and participation in professional groups
Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, and training to maintain knowledge as reflected in training curriculum.
Keeps abreast of information by regularly reading email, minutes and staff website as well as attending staff meetings
Performs tasks of lower level classifications as necessary.
The supervisor may require other related duties. These duties are nonessential functions of this position.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, library officials, other agencies and vendors;
showing tact and courtesy.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems related to system hardware and software required.
Interest in computers, printers, and other hardware required. Working knowledge of computers and software including Intel-based PCs, Macintosh computers, Windows, Apple and open source software.
Ability to lift 40 lb.
Ability to handle routine problems under guidance of supervisor and keep supervisor informed of departmental needs and concerns.
Ability to communicate clearly;
read printed and on-screen information and follow written instructions and manuals.
Qualifications
Associate degree in computer science or related field, A+, Network+ or any equivalent combination of experience and training required.
Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License and meet requirements for driver insurability, as verified through the Library’s Insurance Company. Must have own means of transportation.
Must be able to attend and successfully complete defensive driving training course
Environmental Conditions
Work is performed in a temperature-controlled office like setting, but with need for considerable mobility:
light lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, sitting at a variety of desks and service points.
May be called at any time to handle technology issues outside of normal library hours
Employee may be scheduled to work evening and weekend hours, including Sundays;
schedules may be altered depending on the needs of the library.

The library pays an amount equal to 14% of each employee’s salary into the, the employee pays 10% to OPERS
The library contributes a percentage of the employee’s salary for Medicare
