Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I of the State Special Schools Support Office (SSSSO) in the Technology Services Division (TSD), the Information Technology Supervisor II is responsible for the information technology (IT) operations at the Riverside and Los Angeles locations, including the supervision of IT staff at both sites. Travel will be required for this position, the position is expected to travel to the Los Angeles office once a week and the Riverside office four days a week. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervisory &
Administrative - The incumbent provides direction, leadership, and direct supervision to IT staff members at the California School for the Deaf, Riverside (CSDR), and Diagnostic Center South (DCS) in Los Angeles. The unit is responsible for the maintenance, operation, implementation, and support of IT-related products and services at CSDR and DCS. IT-related products and services include, but are not limited to, local and wide area networks, servers, workstations, E-mail, Intranet/Internet Web presence, IT security, electronic file backups, client service desk support, telecommunications, software license tracking, IT procurement and contract monitoring. The incumbent works with IT management at headquarters, in Sacramento, to identify project tasks and establish appropriate priorities. The incumbent performs staff evaluations, conducts recruitment interviews, provides guidance, direction, and training to staff, and performs general administrative and supervisory activities.
Project Leadership &
Mentoring - The incumbent provides project leadership and mentoring to staff at CSDR and DCS. The incumbent provides technical expertise, experience, direction, and planning in support of the State Special School IT needs. The incumbent works side-by-side with IT staff on the most complex information technology projects and consistently seeks improvements to the IT environment, policies, and procedures to achieve operational efficiency.
IT Subject Matter Expertise - The incumbent provides subject matter expertise for the most complex IT issues encountered at CSDR and DCS. The incumbent requests assistance from IT staff at headquarters or the SSSSO North Unit when necessary to solve IT issues.
Information Technology Coordination - The incumbent coordinates with TSD management to ensure standardization and consistency of IT operations and infrastructure at State Special School sites. The group consistently seeks improvements to the IT environment, policies, and procedures to achieve IT operational efficiency and security at the State Special School sites.

Working Conditions
IN OFFICE POSITION - TELEWORK NOT AVAILABLE
This is position is headquartered in Riverside and Los Angeles and requires the incumbent to report to the office five days a week. This position is not eligible for telework.
