Job Description:

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
The Global Network Manager - Manages the design, implementation, analysis, monitoring, and maintenance of JAS IT Networking projects within the Barfield Data Center and other locations throughout the Americas and globally. This includes projects related to network connectivity, performance tuning related to the Data Center networking, SaaS providers, and Cloud Service Providers to support the JAS global applications. This role is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing project level business impact analysis, post-mortem analysis and managing the development and implementation of disaster recovery strategy programs.
In addition, this role provides feedback, suggestions, troubleshooting, and guidance to worldwide system administrators, application support and development groups, and IT support services. The Global Network Manager creates and maintains project plans, all related documents, tracking, testing and deployment problem solutions to ensure a near 100% system uptime. This individual will coordinate all efforts of the regional IT Infrastructure team members of the JAS Forwarding Worldwide Information Technology group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, analysis, monitoring, and maintenance of JAS IT Infrastructure projects within the Barfield Data Center and other locations globally.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation including task lists, milestones and project approval/review documentation for server and network topology, equipment, and configuration(s) for all infrastructure initiatives.
  • Plan, design, and implement solutions in adherence with the project and change management processes.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 Support for problems identified with network.
  • Act as an escalation for Level 1 and Level 2 Services support technicians.
  • Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for acquisition projects related to new servers and networking equipment via purchasing policy and procedures.
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call availability as needed, or as required for project deployment, monitoring, and testing.
  • Supervise system administration project teams.
  • Coordinate configuration, testing, and maintenance of SDWAN, SASE and LAN equipment and services.
  • Designate team members to identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems.
  • Provide infrastructure advice and expertise in all areas needed in support of JAS IT projects globally.
  • Supply monthly reports and recommendations for all IT Infrastructure and network programs, applications and initiatives/project plans, and provide regular updates to the Head of IT Infrastructure and IT team leads on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate third party vendors and consultants on IT infrastructure projects, seeking RFQ submissions, bids and other support according to defined requirements and processes.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Assume responsibility for the security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farms.
  • Manage project design and configuration of interoperability with legacy and distributed environments, enabling future interoperability with the Active Directory environment and various non-Microsoft directory structures.
  • Supervise technical resources of regional network manager and network engineers.
  • Coordinate with the other JAS Worldwide IT team members to build a knowledge base for the benefit of JAS computer system users.
  • Manage testing of new business application software releases and corrective codes on Desktop computers, and servers supplied by the JAS Worldwide Development team and JAS approved vendors.
  • Prepare project information to support the JAS Worldwide IT strategy.
  • Work with cross function organization teams to ensure the coordination of resources for technology projects and that all services have needed information regarding the implementation of technology.
  • Maintain effective communication with all areas within JAS related to project status/updates and other correspondence.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Head of IT Infrastructure.
  • Adhere to all published organizational, safety policies and procedures as described in the JAS Worldwide employee handbook.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job oversees the Global Network team, including Network Engineers and provides network governance globally.
Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) in Business Administration, Computer Science from 4-year college or university.
  • 7 to 9 years previous experience in a supervisory role in a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with Windows 2003-2016, VMware, Cisco routing and switching, Cisco wireless, Ubiquiti wireless and switches, SDWAN technologies like Aryaka, SASE technologies.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
The ideal candidate holds a current Cisco or Palo Alto certification, or other certification in the areas of responsibility from an accredited education institution and/or any of the widely known professional associations in their respective field.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Spanish, Portuguese and Italian speaking, writing and reading abilities a plus.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Other Skills
Excellent management skills with demonstrated results. Advanced knowledge of telecommunications and data networks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to interact and communicate with all levels of an organization. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent and varied projects. Excellent technology skills, including the use project management and database management applications, and Office 365 (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams). General understanding of Freight Forwarding and Logistics Industry, and the role of technology in supporting organizational effectiveness is a plus.
Physical Demands
Comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities;
sound judgment and the ability to work under time pressures. The JAS Forwarding Information Technology department is a twenty-four (24) hour per day, seven (7) day per week, three hundred sixty-five (365) per year operation. This position will be required to participate in a schedule that requires evening, weekend and holiday working hours as well as emergency and on-call response.
