Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a talented, energetic technology minded Geographic Information System (GIS) professional for immediate employment in the MCB Camp Lejeune Asset Management Branch (AMB) office as a seconded employee.
The position will be on-site at MCB Camp Lejeune, near Jacksonville, North Carolina.
The GIS Specialist is a full-time AECOM employee that will report to the GIS Supervisor in the Technology Services Group and will support our United States Marine Corps (USMC) client within the Environment Business line. This position will independently support the MCB Camp Lejeune AMB office’s planning functions (e.G., master planning) with GIS data management, geospatial analysis and modeling, development of web-based solutions, cartographic product development, and technical support. A successful candidate will work both independently and in close coordination with the local AMB Director and their staff to develop, deploy and support GIS across the installation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide comprehensive geospatial services in a fast-paced, professional environment with a high-level of visibility to senior leadership
Design geospatial solutions that support planning functions using a variety of Esri products, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and Portal for ArcGIS.
Develop Portal for ArcGIS web-based geospatial content/apps/systems to support data-driven decision making for master planning activities
Maintain quality assurance of spatial and non-spatial data and processes as per defined standards
Prepare project plans to successfully execute assigned work
Provide excellent team leadership, critical thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and analytical skills
Collaborate with other on-site GIS staff to ensure quality in all work products
Organize, document, and communicate status updates to program leads and relevant project teams
Maintain expertise in existing and emerging GIS related software and technologies
Create and maintain GIS data related to planning activities in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment
Author automated processing tools (Python, Model Builder) for use with repetitive or complex tasks
Communicating and collaborating with the project manager, project team, and client stakeholders to understand and document system/solution requirements
Meets with planners and other subject matter experts to discuss topics, such as data updates, technical specifications, customized solutions, and operational problems
Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity.
Perform technical reviews to validate data are compliant with the Marine Corps implementation of the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment vector data model.
Maintain a digital GIS Program Binder detailing the processes and actions involved in completing assigned duties.
