Honeysuckle Gelato is looking for a fun, friendly, engaging, and hard-working person to fill the position of Retail Manager at our soon to open shop in the Ballantyne Development in Charlotte, NC.
Summary
The role of Retail Manager is the “face” of Honeysuckle Gelato but is also charged with managing the store, therefore the role as Retail Manager is vitally important to our company. The Retail Manager must be professional, meticulous, and most importantly, must personify our mission to “make bad days good and good days better by creating delicious gelato and joyful experiences.” This mission should be represented in the way we treat our vendors, our neighbors, our staff and, most importantly, our customers.
As a Retail Manager, you will be responsible for all daily operations, including preparing work schedules, reporting sales and tracking inventory. You will bring a creative element to the store and use this to engage customers and compile customer feedback.

Primary Responsibilities
Exemplifying our mission of “making bad days good and good days better by creating delicious gelato and joyful experiences” and practicing our core values of spreading joy, quality, inclusion, integrity, creativity, and teamwork
Ensuring that quality customer service is given to all customers
Hire, develop, mentor, train and oversee employees, meet with each employee monthly and provide monthly performance reviews
Oversee cleanliness of the scoop shop at all times
Review opening and closing checklists to ensure employees performed their assigned duties.
Provide weekly reports to the Retail Operations Manager
Track, handle, and deposit cash (if necessary)
Maintain accurate inventory reports and order inventory as needed
Create ways to engage customers
Scoop gelato and sorbet, make milkshakes and fill various other orders
Oversee quality control for all products
Maintain all equipment and immediately report issues
Be the point of contact with the property managers and attend property management meetings as the company representative. Work with property managers on site related issues
Oversee compliance of all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, and ensure food service establishment inspection reports always receive a score of 95 or higher
Light to moderate lifting
Check mail and, when necessary, pay bills
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all retail store employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office environment and fast-paced retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines and also retail gelato shop equipment such as cash registers, dipping cabinets, inventory rooms and freezers.
Physical Demands
This role will require frequent standing and work in a retail environment. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds unaided will be required as it is required for all retail managers.
Requirements
Previous experience in the restaurant industry is preferred
Working knowledge of inventory control and loss prevention
Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills required
Must be able to lift 50 lbs unaided
Must have recent TB test clearance (less than 3 months old) and other paperwork for employment eligibility
This is a full-time non-exempt position that may require working weekends and holidays.
Must be ServSafe certified
