About Mission Bit
Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based non-profit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. Our brand is built on a deep passion for empowering young innovators who reflect our diversity to become leaders of the global technology revolution, developing solutions that serve our whole community. Our events are all around the Bay Area, primarily in San Francisco and Oakland. Events can range from student showcases to formal Gala fundraisers.
Who we're looking for:
A creative who sees all the parameters of a live event not as constrictions, but as a palette to paint with
A professional who can capture brand photography that will be used for socials, marketing materials, and other company communications.
A candidate who's looking to add 8-10 events a year to your calendar.
What you'll be doing:
Photograph in a myriad of indoor settings, typically between 1-4 hours per event.
Maintain quality and creativity of work, coupled with an easygoing, affable demeanor around guests, partners, and our high-school-aged students.
Ensure you’ve received all notes and schedules needed for your assigned shoots and thoroughly review them ahead of time.
Back up and upload edited images to Mission Bit’s Google Photos folders promptly, recognizing the data's importance and sensitivity.
How work is assigned:
You have full control over your availability - so you may book other gigs or even hold a full time job.
You will be assigned events 2-6 months in advance. So if you have another job, or you want to make weekend plans, your Mission Bit shoots will be known well ahead of time.
Our one red line:
once you are assigned an event, you are responsible for it. If some other opportunity comes up that you wish to pursue instead, you are responsible for connecting with the rest of the team to discuss alternatives.
Requirements
We’d love to hear from you if you…
Have 1-3 years of experience as an event photographer
Have some knowledge of photo editing softwares
Have some weekend availability, as shoots can happen on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays
Have reliable transportation for events all around the Bay Area
Are able to be on your feet for 1-5 hours
Are able to maintain an accurate availability calendar up to 6 months out
Benefits
$100-$150 / hour
