MHA is hiring immediately for a Floating Medication Passer. The Floating Medication Passer is designed to ensure that all people served within the New Way residential homes receive their medications safely and in a timely manner. The Floating Med Passer will work a fixed schedule each day in which they will travel between 3-4 sites to administer afternoon and evening medications.
Floating Medication Passer Position’s Essential Functions
Complete daily schedule of medication passes as assigned. The schedule is designed to ensure that all medications are administered within the proper time frame. Should barriers present themselves, it is expected that this person will contact their Supervisor to make an alternative plan.
Adhere to all MAP guidelines around the administration of medications including but not limited to the 5 Rights:
Right Person, Right Medications, Right Time, Right Dose, and Right Route. It is expected that the Med Passer will complete all 3 checks as taught in the MAP curriculum during all medication administrations.
Professionally report all Medication Occurrences to nursing and supervisory staff.
Regularly check for medications getting low and follow the procedure for medication re-ordering within the home.
Complete proper medication counts of countable substances each day.
Properly document all medications, both scheduled and as needed according to MAP procedures.
Meet with nursing regularly for additional MAP support.
Adhere to safe driving procedures according to MHA’s policies, as well as submit mileage reimbursement in a timely manner for travel expenses.
Requirements
Floating Medication Passer Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Valid driver’s license, sufficient automobile insurance, acceptable driving record, and a safe reliable vehicle during working hours.
Must currently be MAP certified and have a good record of passing medications.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, prioritize tasks, take initiative, follow through, and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
Good oral, written, computer, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing needs of the program participants.
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, caring, and compassion.
Must be at least eighteen years old.
Floating Medication Passer Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). College degree in human services or relevant field is preferred.
Requires six months of applicable experience. Experience with individuals with brain injuries, mental health issue or developmental disabilities preferred.
Position is Part-time Sunday-Tuesday 2pm-10pm
