SUMMARY:
To assist the Garage Manager with physical repair and rebuild of vehicle fleet’s scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements. This is a full time permanent position in which the individual will provide daily tasks accomplishment required to ensure the flow of the vehicle maintenance activities with priority mechanical repair and rebuild, as required, assigned, and necessary to meet continuous dispatch of transport resources for the movement of swine to market daily. This individual analyzes all maintenance requirements assigned and determine the necessary resources required to repair or rebuild any job assignment. Any required parts and supplies needed for any work order will be identified to the shop coordinator who will ensure these items are acquired and available to meet any established priority deadlines from the shop warehouse system or outside established vendors. When required or desired will be directly involved in the training and development of new employees (full-time regular and trainees) and the retraining of employees, as necessary. Maintenance, repair, and service of vehicles, as needed or as required will be provided to meet the DOT standards.

SENIOR FLEET MECHANIC will:
Analyze IMMEDIATE fleet repair and service requirements assigned
Works in coordination with the GARAGE MANAGER on priority work orders, when required will pass on unfinished priority work orders to the shop coordinator for completion.
Follow up on recommended or directed problem areas of interest to the Shop Coordinator.
Maintain parts and supply accountability of parts and shop tools/equipment issued for each work order;
He/She is accountable for all resources to ensure the supplies and parts are installed on the designated repair vehicle or turned over to the Shop Coordinator with written instructions on what needs to be accomplished.
Provides a record copy of all work accomplished, and supplies used against all work orders, immediately after road test have verified a vehicle is to be put back into service.
Reports shop hours of operation and labor costs by vehicle and department charging out time and parts installed to the vehicle/department to the Shop Coordinator.
Ensures company policies, procedures, schedule, and goals are followed and completed daily.
Provides assistance, as needed and required to individuals of the maintenance team.
Maintains Vehicle Fleet repairs to DOT standards.
This position is expected to work from 6:
00 PM Sunday to Thursday until 2:
00 AM with at least a 30 minute meal/rest period daily, or as required to get priority work returned to the fleet. Any hours over 40 hours per week by any member of the maintenance vehicle repair team will be approved by the Garage Manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty, satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. To become a full-time technician/mechanic the individual must acquire his/her Class A driver’s license for the State of Mississippi.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate Degree in Diesel/Gas engine repair and Hydraulic services is desired to fill this position. Hands on vehicle repair and rebuild experience with diesel, gas, and hydraulics is acceptable in lieu of a college degree and certification.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend English instructions, short correspondence, and memos is required. Ability to write correspondence in English or to do math calculations is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percents and to draw and interpret bar graphs use of an adding machine/calculator is required. Must be able to read company reports and understand the function, impact, or efficiencies of the information contained therein.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with issues/concerns involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations to a successful conclusion. Individual will be expected to work alone and report to the supervisor and/or manager the completion of all assignments and seek new direction for the appropriate use of the individual’s time and energy.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Drivers License issued by the State of Mississippi is required, if one is to drive one’s person back and forth to work. One may be driven to the work site and dropped off and pick-up from the work site. Reliable transportation is required and may be substituted for this requirement. When placed into a position of authority, one must be able to respond to emergency calls to return to the work site. A Class A driver’s license will be required as a vehicle technician/mechanic in order to trouble shoot difficult tractor and trailer rigs and to test drive over the road. The individual may learn to drive and park w/o this requirement within the parking lot of our facilities.

Your cost for Group Dental Insurance is currently $4.90 per week for single coverage or $15.36 per week for family coverage. Both the Health and Dental Insurances are pre-tax. The company pays the balance of the insurance premiums.
Your cost for Group Vision Insurance is currently $1.77 per week for single coverage or $3.81 per week for family coverage.
Life insurance coverage will begin on the first day of the month after you have been employed for 60 days. The amount of the policy is $15,000.00. The company pays 100% of the life insurance policy.
You will enrolled in the 401K retirement plan on or around your anniversary date through Principal Financial. The maximum you can contribute is 50% of your gross salary. The company will match 100% of the first 3% you contribute. The enrollment is contingent on your start date.
The vacation year is defined as your anniversary year. Vacation days are taken after each year(s) anniversary award date with the following schedule:
