As an Estimator at Talent Source, you will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates for shipyard projects and bids. Below are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:
Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and technical documents to understand project requirements and scope of work.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify project details.
Analyze project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services, to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
Utilize estimating software and tools to calculate quantities, costs, and pricing for various project components.
Prepare detailed takeoffs and material lists based on project requirements and specifications.
Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality of materials and services.
Identify and quantify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
Present cost estimates and proposals to clients and participate in bid negotiations as needed.
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bid documents, and project files.
Collaborate with the procurement team to support purchasing activities and procurement strategies.
Requirements:
Previous experience as an estimator in the shipyard industry or related field.
Knowledge of shipyard operations, construction methods, and marine engineering principles.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting shipyard blueprints, technical specifications, and contract documents.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to perform accurate calculations and estimates.
Familiarity with estimating software and tools, such as RSMeans, HCSS, or Bluebeam, preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and documentation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
Professional certification in estimating or project management is a plus.
