Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Enhancement:
Assist in refining plant safety programs, policies, and procedures, including safety committee, EMT/First Response training, CPR certification, and more.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA, NIOSH, and other enforcement agencies.
Environmental Monitoring:
Coordinate periodic monitoring and testing of workplace issues such as noise levels, air quality, respirator testing, and hearing tests.
Incident Investigation:
Conduct thorough investigations of workplace accidents and incidents, compiling detailed reports with root causes and corrective actions.
Safety Audits:
Perform regular safety audits of manufacturing areas, identifying potential hazards and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Safety Culture Promotion:
Engage with employees to promote a safety culture and gather feedback during routine safety walks throughout the facility.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and activities through the OSHA 300 log and input data into safety management systems.
Training Programs:
Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs, including orientation-level safety training and company-required training (e.G., forklift operation).
Emergency Response:
Participate in the development and execution of emergency response procedures and provide support during emergency situations.
Environmental Coordination:
Support the Corporate EPA/Safety Coordinator with tasks related to environmental matters such as air quality, stormwater, solid waste, and hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
Experience:
Prior experience in safety, health, and environmental disciplines, with working knowledge of plant safety policies and federal, state, and local safety laws.
Commitment to Safety:
Demonstrated commitment to safety with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and enforcement criteria.
