The Scoop
We’re looking for a player-coach who loves to be “hands on keyboard” while also leading a small and highly capable team to translate our company vision and strategy into the software that enables us to achieve our mission at scale.. This person will have technical understanding of both front and back end and a subset of technical expertise relevant to our business that they want to keep sharp and utilized. They will enjoy leading a team and working cross functionally, particularly with Hardware, Content, Experience, and Marketing. Moreover, they will be passionate about our product and designing and scaling a successful engineering team that meets our strategic priorities.

Responsibilities
Lead and grow a small team of software engineers and own development, quality, security scalability and availability across multiple applications.
Work closely with other technology teams, product management, and leadership to deliver quality products.
Leverage a metrics-based approach to improve efficiencies in the SDLC. Implement, gather and report team/project metrics to track execution and effectiveness. Continuously monitor and improve processes and identify training and automation opportunities
Grow, manage, and motivate the engineering organization. Recruit and hire top talent and nurture the team by mentoring and influencing cross functional teams
Act decisively and collaborate to remove impediments for the team.
Act as the primary point of contact for software engineering across stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Other duties as required
Requirements
7+ years of software engineering experience in a consumer technology company, including 3+ years hands on experience architecting/developing products within a complex and deep technology stack.
2+ years experience as a people leader.
You truly enjoy empowering and developing team members and developing a strong team culture that is closely integrated with the overall culture of the company to achieve great things and ship quality end products.
You can demonstrate great results collaborating effectively with other leaders across a company.
You have experience developing standards and procedures to ensure that quality levels are met and consistent.
You have experience preparing and optimizing budgets and working closely with finance partners. .
You bring the ability to recommend technological improvements and opportunities to increase efficiency.
Experience with Extreme Programming (XP)

The salary range for this role is $172,000 - $198,000 + equity.
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets;
experience and training;
licensure and certifications;
and business needs. Thedisclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
