Position Description:
Under general supervision, the Electronic Maintenance Technician at SF Water Supply and Treatment Division performs either independently or with others highly skilled journey-level technical work in the maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of a wide variety of electronic and electromechanical equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Performs corrective and preventive maintenance, non-routine repair, modification, troubleshooting, calibration, removal and installation of complex electronic systems and equipment.
- Tests and calibrates electronic equipment such as, Flow Meters, Level Transmitters and Pressure Transmitters using established test procedures.
- Uses electronic test equipment, oscilloscopes, pressure calibrating devices, process meters and other devices required to maintain instrumentation and control systems. Modification of electronic systems and equipment.
- Utilizes various schematics, blueprints, wire lists, equipment manuals, and other resources.
- Maintains records of work performed;
developing documentation for the installation, maintenance and calibration.
- Instructs other personnel in system maintenance procedures and operations.
- Advises and assists staff, management and others on operating problems involving instrumentation and control systems.
- Inspects, maintains and repairs supervisory control and remote-control equipment, instrumentation and control equipment, radio and network communication systems, fire alarm, access control and security systems, closed circuit television, protective relays, meters, backup power systems, and automatic gate controllers, equipment that controls the movement, chemical treatment and analysis of drinking water.
- Operates a motor vehicle to respond to service requests at various locations and uses special hand and power tools and equipment.
