Job Description:

Are you a Veteran looking to transition to a rewarding civilian career? Our Dock-To-Driver GI Bill Training program offers an exceptional opportunity to leverage your military experience and gain specialized skills in the transportation industry.

This comprehensive program, designed exclusively for veterans, combines hands-on training with one-on-one instruction to prepare you for a dynamic and fulfilling career. Join us to embark on a new professional journey, supported by the robust benefits of the GI Bill and a team dedicated to your success.

How the On-The-Job (OJT) program works:

  • Must have previously served in the U.S. military, or be in the National Guard or Reserve, with Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits available.
  • If you qualify for the Post 9/11 GI benefits, you are eligible to get up to 12 monthly payments from the V.A. while you receive on-the-job training.
  • Eligible associates will complete all required paperwork during orientation. Benefit checks are paid directly from the Department of Veteran Affairs, not Averitt, usually 4-6 weeks after training begins.
  • Eligible to earn up to $1,341 per month tax free using your available Post 9/11 GI Bill funds PLUS your weekly Averitt paycheck.

How The Dock-To-Driver Program Works:

  • This is an entry level Dock position leading to a CDL-A qualified position through our Dock-to-Driver Training Program. This exciting on-the-job training program pays you to work on the dock while growing your knowledge of the transportation industry and learning the skills to earn your CDL.
  • During your first 60-90 days of employment, you will receive dock operations training as well as a minimum of 240 hours of hands-on training with a local driver trainer.
  • You will receive top dock wages during training, $25.70/hour.
  • Upon successful completion of training, passing of the CDL road test and receipt of required endorsements, you will become a CDL-A Qualified Dock Associate and your pay will increase to $29.15/hour.
  • You must be willing to drive when needed and will be considered for open driving positions as they become available.
  • You will be reimbursed for your CDL-A, hazmat, tanker, and TWIC fees where applicable.

Benefits Of Joining The Team:

  • Annual paid time off plus 8 paid holidays
  • Excellent insurance coverage that includes medical, prescription, dental, vision and hearing starting as low as $97.55/week for family plans and $37.35/week for individual plans effective after 30 days
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability benefits
  • Profit Sharing plan allows you to share in the rewards of our efforts, with a portion of our profits given back to you as monthly direct deposits into your retirement account
  • Referral rewards - cash bonuses for referrals
