This Director is responsible for setting a data-driven, long-term (1-3 year) reputational communications strategy. They must be a subject matter expert in strengthening and protecting corporate reputation, leveraging earned, owned, and paid communications tactics, along with being proficient in using collaborator insights to guide planning. Necessary skills also include consulting and providing actionable recommendations to teams. This role is part of the McDonald’s Global Communications Team and is a member of the Global Communications Leadership Team. Global Communications is one of five Centers of Excellence teams that are part of McDonald’s Global Impact organization. The individual has two direct reports and is accountable for:
Setting Reputational Communications Long-term Strategy
Builds a comprehensive long-term reputation communications strategy for McDonald’s, informed by insights and data.Partners closely with Communications Measurement and Insights Communications Team to develop strong understanding of reputational health drivers to inform planning and priorities.
Key pillars of focus include Planet and People, aligned with Global Impact’s objectives and strategy.
Leads development of proactive stakeholder-specific campaigns that enhance reputation and address/inoculate against reputational threats working closely with policy teams, market functions, Sustainability/ESG, DEI and Communications peers. Includes leading the strategy for the role of paid in these campaign efforts, speaking engagements and “best-in” awards.
Convenes and connects peers across Impact team to collaborate on bringing long-term strategy to life, including:
Connecting Global and market initiatives to long-term reputation drivers, while strengthening near-term efforts.
Identifying key reputational tent-pole moments for associated comprehensive communications plans that consider internal and external audiences, along with earned, owned, and paid tactics.
Establishes regular cadence with cross-functional teams focused on Planet, People teams to understand long-term reputation strategy progress and tent-pole moments as well as near-term priorities and communications plans.
Anchors in the reputation measurement framework as a key indicator of success along with business priorities, external realities for settling key priorities.
Market Partnership
Partners with Communications Measurement and Insights team to develop strong understanding of market data and reputation health drivers, inputting actionable recommendations into Market and COE measurement and insights deliverables.
Advises markets, segments, and COE teams on reputation strategy and planning based on long-term reputation health drivers;
facilitates sharing of successful initiatives and case studies from across the System.
