ABOUT GBC
The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) is the leading voice for the private sector in the Baltimore region, providing insightful economic and civic leadership to drive collective impact. Composed of more than 400 organizations, including large, mid-size, and small companies, nonprofits, foundations, and educational and healthcare institutions, the GBC is dedicated to fostering the prosperity of the Baltimore region.
In 2022, the GBC merged with the Economic Alliance, hiring new leadership after more than two decades. Initially, in May 2023, the GBC announced a multi-year agenda to position the organization to:
1) create and lead an economic path for the Greater Baltimore region, 2) aggressively pursue game-changing opportunities, 3) collaborate to transform the region’s transportation, infrastructure, and public safety challenges to foster a more equitable region.
Following that announcement, GBC initiated an 11-month process to develop our 10-year economic plan that culminated in May 2024, with the launch of that layouts GBC’s plan for the region. All In | 2025 is a forward-looking approach that reflects GBC’s desire to ignite transformational change and to spur new regional collaboration.
One of the Plan’s growth opportunity sectors prioritizes theEDA’s designating the Baltimore Region as one of 31 new Tech Hubs out of 400 applicants across the US. This accomplishment opened the door for GBCto compete forPhase II funding ofup to $70 million. The designation provides GBC an opportunity to galvanize the Baltimore region toinvest and collaborate in support of our region’s globally ambitious tech hub community.
GBC ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The GBC’s staff structure includes five teams, with staff leads who report directly to the CEO.
Operations:
Provide fiscal, operational, and HR leadership for organization.
Support CEO, Board to establish corporate governance and execution of mission.
Policy and Research:
Shape and publish public policy, data-driven research, and bold strategies to support the region’s vitality and economic growth.
Proactively engage with elected officials, partners, and stakeholders to advance GBC’s agenda.
Communications:
Shape GBC’s message and communications strategy. Grow and modernize our audience, improving how we interact with members, stakeholders, and amplify civic progress in Baltimore.
Execute the regional marketing and balance perspective on the Baltimore Region as a place to invest and expand.
Manage and solidify support for GBC’s events and engagement.
Partnerships:
Develop and establish GBC’s new membership and engagement model.
Develop and orient GBC’s committee and member collaborations toward high-value impact.
Establish and manage partnerships with local, state, and national peers to advance the Greater Baltimore region.
Business &
Economic Investment:
Support the Baltimore Region's federal tech hub designation and the regional innovation office.
Lead regional business retention, expansion, and retention efforts.
Work with public and private partners to support investment in regionally significant activity centers and projects.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is a member of the Partnerships team working to:
Develop and orient GBC’s partner/member collaborations toward high-value impact for improving the region.
Establish and manage partnerships with local, state, and national peers to advance the Greater Baltimore region.
Engage and develop new and existing partnerships in support of GBC’s work.
Continue to implement the GBC’s new membership model.
Deepen GBC’s use of data and customer relationship management best practices.
Maximize sponsorship opportunities among GBC partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engagement strategies in partnership with GBC’s Regional Innovation Office (RIO) to increase partner and prospective partner engagement in support of the Baltimore region’s Tech Hub designation.
Build and manage relationships between the GBC Staff and Tech Hub partners to increase integration across initiatives within GBC’s 10-year economic opportunity plan (All In | 2035).
Execute committee and partner collaboration activities with an eye toward high-value and results-oriented impact.
Collaborate with the GBC Communications Team and the RIO to translate the value and impact of the Tech Hub to partners, regionally, nationally, and globally through various platforms.
Track and report on partner engagement opportunities. Recommend and implement performance improvements.
Work with the Director, Events to develop and execute Tech Hub events that advance the execution of All In | 2035.
Participate in a variety of other activities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Beyond educational qualification, five or more years of relevant professional experience in a partnership-related or corporate partnership organization, including in a non-profit, education or economic development environment.
Three or more years of relevant experience in tech or a related field.
Experience managing stakeholders for large federal grants preferred
Professional presence and a preference for external, direct interaction with stakeholders.
Member and partner engagement-focused, creating an environment of mutual success.
Expertise in structuring and facilitating effective stakeholder meetings
Exceptional communication skills both verbally and in writing.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to quickly evaluate data and information for appropriate action.
Customer relations management (CRM) systems experience and/or management.
Self-motivated and directed
Desire and ability to work with cognitively diverse teams to produce high-quality, results-oriented work products.
