Position Summary
The Director of Engineering will lead the manufacturing engineering and facilities operations at our plant. This role focuses on enhancing product design for manufacturability, improving quality, and streamlining assembly processes. Reporting to the General Plant Manager, you will drive cost reduction initiatives and foster collaboration between engineering and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
Guide the engineering team to achieve technical goals within budget and schedule constraints.
Product Design Review:
Assess product designs for manufacturability and quality improvements.
Cost Reduction:
Lead efforts to minimize assembly and operational costs.
Team Collaboration:
Ensure cohesive teamwork between engineering and manufacturing departments.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage the capital and departmental budgets.
Compliance:
Oversee ISO and SOX compliance for the department.
Personnel Management:
Supervise both salaried and hourly personnel.
Project Management:
Coordinate multiple projects, creating plans, timelines, and milestones.
Continuous Improvement:
Advise senior leadership on Lean transformation strategies and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications
Experience:
10+ years in large-scale industrial manufacturing, preferably in a single-site setting.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Skills:
Self-motivated, resourceful, and entrepreneurial with a strong desire for continuous learning and improvement.
Lean Environment:
Previous experience in Lean environments;
Lean certification is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Extensive experience with CAD/AutoCAD, ability to read and interpret technical drawings, SAP software proficiency, and knowledge of PLCs.
