The Director of Community Support Services is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of the Recovery Cafe program in Georgetown, DE and Drop-in Center program in Seaford, DE. Th Director of Community Support Services for Recovery Cafe and Drop-in Center programs plays a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing services designed to support individuals recovering from substance abuse, mental health issues, homelessness, and other life challenges. This leadership role requires strategic planning, effective management, and passionate advocacy to enhance the support network available to participants. The Director of Community Support Services will manage staff, develop partnerships, and ensure that services meet the highest standards of effectiveness and care.
Please note:
To accommodate the needs of the Recovery Cafe &
Drop-in Center members,this position may include working some evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position will also be required to split their time between the Recovery Cafe program in Georgetown, DE and the Drop-in Center program in Seaford, DE.
Requirements
General Accountabilities
Design programs that address the holistic needs of participants, including mental health support, substance abuse recovery, employment assistance, and social reintegration.
Develop strategic plans that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver services that are compassionate and effective. This includes hiring, training, and supervising staff, ensuring that team members are effectively supporting the organization's objectives and providing high-quality services to participants.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local government, and stakeholders to support program goals.
Represent the organization in public forums and participate in community outreach to advocate for participant needs and program support.
Manage the annual budget for community support services, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Secure funding through grants and donations, and manage financial accounts related to program activities.
Monitor program performance against established metrics and participant feedback.
Adjust programs as necessary to improve quality and effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, funding, and ethical standards.
Oversee the handling of crises in the facilities, ensuring that all situations are managed with sensitivity and adherence to best practices.
Advocate for policies that support recovery and mental health, and develop policies that ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff.
Job Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective programs and services.
Significant experience in program management and leadership in a non-profit or community service setting, preferably with a focus on recovery or mental health.
Certification in supervisor of peer specialists peer support, addiction recovery, or mental health first aid is advantageous.
Skills
Familiarity with the specific challenges faced by individuals recovering from substance abuse, mental health issues, or homelessness.
Experience in policy development and advocacy in the field of mental health and recovery.
A deep understanding of and commitment to recovery principles.
Strong empathy and the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to manage complex situations.
