The Opportunity:
Visa is seeking a Director of Data Center Planning to support our global white space infrastructure. This is a Key position responsible in creating and leading Visa’ Data Center white space capacity planning optimizing the infrastructure for Visa’s business initiatives.
The Work itself:
· In this position, a successful candidate will work closely with engineers on the O&
I Infrastructure and Engineering front door teams as well as with DC E &
O operations organizations in order to plan data center deployments according to delivery priorities and resource planning priorities. This individual will have exposure to a broad set of technologies and be constantly challenged to create solutions with the latest toolsets. The ideal candidate should have at least a 10 year track record of dealing with various aspects of IT infrastructure management and IT equipment deployment planning. A successful candidate must possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, be able to translate business and technical requirements into workable technical solutions, and strive to automate manual processes wherever possible.
Essential Functions
The Skills You Bring:
· Data Center white space utilization and zoning
· Server platforms HA Cluster framework – HP/DELL/IBM
· Storage Array platforms – EMC/HDS/IBM
· Network Design and capacity utilization
· Data Center Facility background and an understanding of power/cooling affecting compute capacities
· Thorough understanding of developing project deliverables from estimation and cost to lead times and execution.
· Drive and influence IT and Data Center standards throughout the organization while promoting partnerships to achieve business goals.
· Evaluate new and emerging technologies and perform cost business analysis integrating TCO
· Process oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Work independently with minimal supervision
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have awesome team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
