BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

As a Director, Embedded Software Engineering, you will be responsible for strategic direction and management of embedded software development professionals. Implement and enhance consistent software engineering practices to ensure stable product delivery that aligns with company initiatives and expectations. Support operations including technical services, code upgrades, and network operations. Direct project planning, capital budgeting and assist with business plan development. Ensure a high degree of cross functional communication and participation in line with product planning, deployment and support.

WHAT DIRECTORS, EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEERING ENJOY MOST
Utilizing in-depth knowledge of C, C++, Python and modern software approaches and architectures
Utilizing in-depth knowledge of customer premises equipment, such as WiFi routers, WiFi extenders, cable modems, or set-top boxes
Leveraging strong understanding of Linux-based embedded systems, including hardware-software interactions, memory management, real-time constraints, and security
Using advanced knowledge of networking protocols and standards, including WiFi (802.11), ethernet (802.3), LTE/5G, Thread, TCP/IP, and the OSI model
Bringing their experience managing original equipment manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, or software solution vendors, and offshore development and testing teams
Leading an innovative and collaborative work team in producing exceptional software.
Establishing and measuring performance targets for management of embedded software development department.
Leading development of new embedded software technology and initiatives which may include, but not limited to code architecture, development, and unit and near neighbor testing and related equipment requirements.
Developing an effective front line management team and assist them with developing their direct reports to drive a high-performance culture and environment.
Evaluating and providing direction for new or existing technologies and current operational initiatives.
Evaluating, in conjunction with all levels of leadership, third party software solutions, code architecture, technical operations, strategic planning of releases, network operations, dispatch, and new product development and deployment.
Directing quality control programs for software development, software solutions and consistent operational procedures.
Reviewing selections on bids for contracted projects and provide recommendations as necessary.
Overseeing capital budget process and executes approved budget plan.
Leading and participating in succession planning.
Assisting in championing new technologies as we scale for the future.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Software Engineering experience – 8+ years
Leadership experience - 5+ years
Experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
Education:
BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience
Technical skills:
In-depth Knowledge of Java, JavaScript or Python and modern software approaches and architectures
Advanced knowledge of current software development methodologies and practices
Experience leading teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
Abilities:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
Ability to drive multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Ability to organize and delegate work to various levels of management and software professionals
Travel Ability:
Office Environment
Varying schedules in a 24 x 7 Network Center
Exposure to moderate noise levels
Travel as required
Schedule:

Comprehensive understanding of applicable local and state rules and regulations
Comprehensive understanding of OSHA rules and regulations, both federal and state

The pay for this position has a salary range of $138,800.00 to $246,400.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
