About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Development Manager for the Data Platform Engineering team with the drive and expertise to design and build large scale complex applications for our cloud data platform. This role involves building high-traffic, data-intensive applications that are crucial for our daily operations. You’ll be an integral part of Data Platform team and you will take the helm in developing large-scale systems on AWS, Snowflake, Kafka, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
You'll set the best engineering practices and build repeatable patterns and pipelines for our engineering teams. You are well versed with configuration management tools to ensure the robustness and efficiency of our services. You will be in the thick of problem-solving challenges, drawing from your extensive experience to maintain the high availability of our systems and ensure our infrastructure's security and compliance. Your expertise will define how we create a world class cloud data platform that will lay the foundation for advanced data use cases.
About the team:
Worldpay Cloud Data Platform team provides WorldPay big Data capabilities including large scale data processing, analytics, fraud platforms, machine learning engineering, stream processing and data insights. Worldpay Cloud Data Platform team help maintain and advance cloud data platforms and services to build data products powering our business services and customers.
What you will be doing:
Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers with expertise in Snowflake, AWS, Real time and batch ingestion processes
Foster a colloborative and high-performance culture within the team
Conduct performace reviews, provide feedback and support career development of team members
Platform and Technology:
Lead the development of standard Platforms that would provide various data technology capabilities (Integrations, Data Persistence, Data Computation, Orchestration, Analytics, AIML, Governance)
Develop cost effective scalable and future proofing infrastructure solutions based on the requirements for product services that covers both functional and non-functional requirements
Manages the operating model for the platform teams to onboard, build and support the roll out of products
Ensure the design and architecture of the data platform meet the industry best practices and standards
Enablement:
Engages various technology and product stakeholders and work through from business objectives to a solution design based on their unique product requirements
Designs architectures, functional solutions and implementation ready approaches for various products and key initiatives to accelerate the build of Solutions
Creates architecture specifications and other design artifacts representing the approach and effect of new proposed solutions
Facilitate technical and business sessions required to align solution architecture with business and technology objectives throughout the development life cycle
Provides implementation guidance to a variety of products and key Data initiatives throughout the product development life cycle
Work with the several Project teams to help align, implement, and accelerate the development. Manage POCs, design updates, product changes, project escalations
Expertise:
Subject matter expert in Data Architecture, Data Integration, Data Persistence &
Data Analytics platforms and well-architected patterns
Defines appropriate architecture principles and standards, patterns, blueprints, best practices and frameworks in the Data Architecture to support product development across the organization
Supports the design patterns for building Integrations - ETL/Streaming/Near Realtime
Supports the design patterns for building Data Models, Meta data layers leveraging Snowflake data warehouse platform
Supports the build of data technology capabilities and the migration of analytics artifacts from legacy solutions to modern platforms
What you bring:
Bachelor’s in computer science or engineering, or the equivalent experience – post-graduate education desired
Ten+ years of Big-Data experience including building data platforms in cloud. Preferably using AWS, Snowflake, Kafka, ETL and equivalent services.
Leadership skills with experience in driving large projects and implementing applications in a shared services environment
Experience with large-scale Transformation Programs and Fortune 500 companies
Experience with cloud transformations and cloud migrations
Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design-based tools and techniques
Experience with data modelling, building data schemas (normalized, flat, star, snowflake, etc)
Expertise with end-to-end systems development life cycles and a background leading large projects
Experience designing and implementing applications in a shared service environment
