The function of a Design Engineer is to lead projects, perform product engineering, support implementation of production systems, support internal and external customer product inquiries, and perform engineering research. Product line:
High end Faucets and drinking fountains. ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES Project Leadership (10%)
* Leads and manages projects by planning, communicating, and tracking task execution
* Clarifies project targets and constraints through dialog and research
* Provides status reports and presentations to the project team and executive management
* Recommends, makes, and documents key project decisions. Product Engineering (50%)
* Generates concepts for products, and evaluates those concepts utilizing technical and business criteria, as well as fulfillment of the project targets.
* Defines design specifications in the form of drawings, schematics, pictures/illustrations, written documentation, and 2D/3D files.
* Prototypes, tests, evaluates, and improves product designs.
* Works with manufacturers to develop component and assembly designs to be manufacturable. Production System Implementation (25%)
* Supervises the quotation, design, creation, trial, and implementation of production tools, fixtures, and assembly equipment.
* Reviews production process flows for their ability to successfully produce repeatable product.
* Is responsible for the creation of ERP system data as it defines product bill of materials and the components used therein.
* Approves the production approval submission from suppliers to confirm the components meet design intent. Product Support (5%)
* Answers inquiries related to product use, performance, construction, or manufacture.
* Troubleshoots production quality issues and field issues as related to product performance.
* Generates service documentation for products for use by technical support and customers.
* Evaluates and implements changes to the products to improve quality or performance, reduce cost, add new features, extend the product line, or avoid obsolescence issues with component availability. Engineering Research (5%)
* Researches and explores materials, processes, suppliers, methods, and technologies for potential future use in product development.
* Undertakes feasibility studies to analyze the ability to meet new product specifications and create new product lines.
* Writes specifications and other guidance for the development of new technologies.
* Evaluates competitive products to understand the benefits/deficits of their approach and compare key performance metrics with existing product lines. All other duties as assigned. (5%) QUALIFICATIONS &
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
