Job Description
The Dental Assistant performs chair side assistance duties in all phases of restorative, prosthodontics, surgical endodontics and periodontal treatments as provided in general dentistry.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
Must learn proper instrument set-up with 100% accuracy.
Must use correct x-ray technique, and obtain X-Ray certification, if not already certified, within 90 days from the Notice of Appointment.
Maintain standard disinfection and cleaning of operatories after each patient.
Must be able to properly maintain equipment.
Must demonstrate skills in the following areas:
Sealant, coronal polishing, employee must obtain certification within 90-days following successful completion of her/his introductory period.
Proper post-operative care education/information to patients both orally and in writing.
Labeling of all instruments must be acurate 100% of times.
Labeling of charts with the patients’ name and identifying information must be accurate, with no more than one error or complaint during annual evaluation period.
Completing Provider orders, including prescription processing with the patients’ name and identifying information accurately, with no more than one error or complaint during annual evaluation period.
Must be able to pour-up diagnostic impression, takes preliminary impressions for study models;
removes sutures and places and removes rubber dams, periopacks, matrix bands and wedges
Employee must follow directives related to the operations of the clinic and in accordance with her/his job description, including other duties as assigned, in a cooperative and team-oriented manner.
