Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. The Dean of Students is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that supports the academic, physical, emotional, and social well-being of all students. This leadership role requires collaborating with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, parents, and students, to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
The Dean of Students is responsible for:
Building and sustaining positive partnerships with students and their families to promote a positive school culture and foster a sense of belonging
Overseeing the implementation of the school's policies and procedures related to student behavior and discipline
Developing and implementing initiatives that promote student engagement, character development, leadership development and social-emotional learning in collaboration with the US counselors
Reinforcing policies and procedures regarding student attendance
Conducting parent meetings to foster partnership between home and school
Managing student discipline cases, including conducting investigations, implementing appropriate consequences, and maintaining accurate documentation
Serving as a resource for students and families, providing support and guidance as needed
Planning and overseeing Upper School traditions and events
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
Master's degree in educational leadership, education or related field
Previous experience in a leadership role in a school setting, preferably as a dean of students or assistant principal
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
Knowledge of best practices in student support services, character development, and social-emotional learning
Familiarity with current trends and issues in education, including diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to make sound decisions and handle confidential information with discretion
Passion for working with students and supporting their overall well-being and success
