The Controller will function as an integral member of Mark III’s management team. The Controller will oversee the financial aspects of the construction projects, real estate holdings, and the Company in general. The Controller will develop and put in place controls, policies, and procedures to assure the sound financial condition of the company. Additionally, the Controller may direct a team of 1 to 4 people.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the construction accountant to prepare the timely and accurate completion of month end financial reports, to analyze report results, and to assure consistent and accurate accounting practices.
Prepare company job closing financial analysis with meaningful commentary.
Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget.
Analyze the overhead cost structure, revise as appropriate, and assure that these costs are accounted for throughout the company.
Perform cost benefit analysis as needed and to support and recommend capital expenditures.
Develop and maintain appropriate job costing accounts and procedures that respond appropriately to management’s need for data and provides for accurate and timely preparation of job cost data.
Manage the Accounts Payable process assuring the Purchase Order system and other controls for payments are in place and payments are accurate and timely.
Manage the Accounts Receivable to assure that billings are timely and accurate, that lien releases are processed efficiently, and collections are made
Utilizing contractors as needed, address all information technology issues to provide a secure, user friendly, dependable, backed-up, cost effective, and legal IT system that meets the needs of management and staff. This includes hardware and software related issues.
Prepare and analyze financial data as requested by management
Prepare ad hoc reports as needed and as requested
Identify issues, proactively analyze financial data, implement and/or recommend solutions
Institute and maintain strong internal financial controls
Meet regularly with and maintain strong liaison with the Company’s accounting related personnel
Assure that all Federal and State payroll related reporting requirements are met and that the reports are accurate and timely
Organize, control and manage loans, lines of credit, and lender draws and pay downs
Control and maintain tool, equipment and vehicle cost data making recommendations for process changes as needed
Gather and prepare all work papers for tax returns, interface with outside tax preparer, and review and approve tax returns before filing

Prepare and provide all internal books for auditors and interface with auditors
Requirements
Qualifications
CPA preferred
A minimum of 10 years relevant experience. Some experience in a construction company is required.
Experience managing and developing staff
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals
Working knowledge of construction accounting software. Timberline knowledge is a strong plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and present concise and clear management reports.

Salary Range:
$120,000 to $140,000 DOE
