Incident"
An “incident” is defined as a transport request that may or may not result in an EMS Unlimited Transport.Multiple phone calls may be associated with the same “incident”
Callers requesting information or asking questions or calling for a reason other than requesting an ambulance transport are not considered “incidents”
Overtime is paid as required by law according to the job being performedUnscheduled overtime must be approved by a supervisor prior to actual occurrence
Travel is not required
SCHEDULE
Communication Specialists may be scheduled for 24, 48, or 72 hour on-call shifts. Scheduling for shifts is accomplished through coordination with the Scheduling and Logistics Coordinator. Each Communications Specialist will be required to be on-call for a minimum of 48 hours per month and attend monthly dispatch meetings. Dispatch meetings will rotate from a weekday to weekend each month. Required to attend 1 live meeting per quarter.
POSITION SUMMARY
The EMS Unlimited Communication Specialist is the front-line of customer service and must bring an above average level of customer service to our hospital and transport team customers. While on-call the employee must be able to answer their own phone for the duration of their shift. Calls for service will be forwarded to the employees phone (can be cellular or landline), at which point the Communication Specialist will intake transport request information and relay appropriate details to the on-duty transport staff. The Communication Specialist will be required to maintain, while on-call knowledge and awareness of current transport capabilities. This will include monitoring for crew-rest and fatigue and weather conditions. General duties will include but are not limited to, answering the phone from a transport requesting facility in a kind, compassionate and customer service driven manner, inputting data into web based forms, utilizing text platforms to dispatch EMS transport units and update requesting facilities when needed.

Maintain a superior level of customer service through multiple mediums of communication such as phone and text.
Manage and triage multiple requests for service
Manage on-duty transport teams
Input transport data
