As a Commissioning Electrician at New Flyer, you will play a pivotal role in the final stages of our bus manufacturing process, ensuring that electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to meet quality standards and customer requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Install and commission electrical components and systems in transit buses, including wiring, controls, lighting, and auxiliary equipment.
Perform electrical inspections, tests, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.
Interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure accurate installation and operation.
Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
Conduct functional tests and simulations to verify system functionality and performance.
Document commissioning activities, including test results, observations, and deviations from specifications.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies throughout the commissioning process.
Provide technical support and assistance during customer acceptance tests and demonstrations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
High school diploma or equivalent;
completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent experience in electrical installations and commissioning.
Proven experience in commissioning electrical systems, preferably in a manufacturing or transportation environment.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
Proficiency in electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to solve complex electrical problems.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy objects as required.
