The Lead Teacher/Coach will not be assigned to a classroom with students;
instead, the Lead Teacher/Coach position will be a full-time position supporting and coaching teachers in their own classrooms, during planning periods, and in IEP meetings. The Lead Teacher/Coach will be the central warehouse of knowledge and expertise for all teachers to utilize for each of the three main departments (or programs) in the school:
I Am I Can, Blended, and Base. This position requires OSPI special education certification or the ability to be certified.
Primary Responsibilities
To stay abreast of the latest content and pedagogical trends in the area to which assigned.
To provide ongoing leadership with members of the department in terms of contextual and instructional pedagogy.
To observe team members on a regular basis to ensure that the goals of the department and the demands of the curriculum are being met.
To work closely with the School Leadership Team to articulate and enforce the company’s standards of curriculum and instruction.
To ensure meaningful and appropriate assessments are provided to students at assigned intervals, with data reviewed and used to inform instruction and student goals.
To oversee the regular evaluation and subsequent update of curriculum.
To direct and train teachers on the school’s student management system and progress reporting.
To support teachers with writing, implementing, and evaluating IEP goals.
To assist with annual OSPI approval.
To be an exemplar for professional excellence and growth.

Planning
To review, design and help teachers implement each department’s courses of study and curriculum maps.
To prepare each department’s curriculum and supply orders.
To prepare for and conduct bi-monthly Teacher/Related Services meetings.
To observe and meet with each teacher weekly.
To work with the School Leadership Team in planning in-service workshops based on the needs of the department, the school, and the company.
To stay abreast of enrollment trends within the school so as to plan for appropriate quantity and quality of department faculty.
To review and update all monthly themes, priority standards, and curriculum maps with other Lead Teachers/Assistant Principals at least twice annually.
To work with staff to update student management systems, progress reports, and other grade report for teachers and related services to align with student’s IEP.
To collaborate with other Lead Teachers/Coaches at other sites to ensure continuity of programs.

Management
To help manage department budgets by reviewing all order requests.
To work closely with the School Leadership Team on all departmental curricular and staff matters.
To work with the School Leadership Team/Admissions to plan for student screenings.
To work closely with the School Leadership Team in the assignment of department members to appropriate classes.
To work closely with the School Leadership Team to ensure the appropriate placement of students in department classes.
To conduct a quarterly review of grade books and progress reports of each member of the department before final review by the School Leadership Team, as necessary.
To audit and approve student grades, report cards, and progress reports quarterly.
To evaluate teachers quarterly.
To help complete annual OSPI independent school approval.

Requirements
Special Education Teacher Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master's preferred)
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (Master's preferred)
Special Education certification (required)
Experience working with students with ADHD, LD, HFA and other related disabilities (preferred)
Experience using Applied Behavioral Analysis (preferred)
Experience in assessment and report writing (preferred)
Special Education Teacher Working Conditions
Location:
Issaquah, WA
Monday – Friday / 8:
00 AM to 4:
30 PM
Occasional before and after school work hours at the discretion of the Administrative staff
Candidates should be comfortable teaching online and in the school building
There is an Extended Year Program, so this position is 12 months
Special Education Teacher Physical Requirements
Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others and in some cases may need to implement CPI procedures.
Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations and in some cases be able to lift a child.
