Summary
In addition to performing the job of a CDL Class-A Truck Driver, the Driver Supervisor supervises the daily activities and professional development of the truck driving teams, by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and all of the driver’s responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
· Ability to perform all of the essential job functions of the CDL Class-A Truck Driver job description
· Maintain Driver Qualification files for individual drivers
· Daily check DOT compliance related to hours of service
· Check driver logs and trip reports for DOT compliance
Conduct DOT required quarterly meetings
Update DOT MCS-150 as needed and file every two years
Answer all internal questions regarding DOT
Work with Controller to maintain current insurance cards and registrations for tractors and trailers
In the event of an accident, work with the HR Department for submission of reports, photographs, etc.
· Track, schedule and coordinate maintenance for repairs on trucks and trailers
· Order and maintain inventory of operational supplies
· Reload trucks, if necessary
Lead by example and promote a quality culture
· Maintain clean, safe work environment
· Miscellaneous projects as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
· Schedule and approve drivers’ hours to maintain compliance with applicable laws, rules, and EEWP performance standards
· Interview and hire new employees
· Establish goals and conduct performance appraisals
· Address employee complaints, resolve issues and engage Human Resources and/or Management, if necessary
· Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations
· Plan and assign daily runs, ensuring it is all completed accurately and efficiently
· Review and match operation department costs;
resolve any disputes
Training
· Develop and maintain a structured training program for drivers
· Develop and maintain an evaluation and testing system
· Document individual training activities and program effectiveness
· Develop coaching plan if training milestones are not met
· Develop training procedure manuals, guides, and/or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials
· Demonstrate and train proficiencies in all areas of the Driver job description tasks and duties
Teamwork
Work closely Customer Service Manager and Loader Lead to make determinations on runs and stops
Work with the CSR team to monitor returns make sure they are being picked up
Follow direction from superiors
Communicate with subordinates, peers, and superiors with respect and courtesy
Communicate with the southern branch Ops Manager to ensure compliance, maintenance and safety with the southern driver team.
Maintenance
Coordinate with drivers and vendors for monthly preventive maintenance as needed and requested
Utilizing Keep track of units and their location
Supply purchase orders for repairs and maintain log
Communicate with any vendor and drivers for pickup of units when completed
Arrange transportation of drivers dropping off or picking up vehicles or equipment at any vendor
Review and submit mileage sheets to Accounting Department for submittal to Penske
Review and submit Fleet One reports regarding IFTA to Ryder
Review and answer questions on invoices
Investigate damage to trucks and trailers and report using 8d
Monitor E-Z passes and keep them current
Monthly review E-Z Pass bill for accuracy
Order and maintain inventory of operational supplies (straps, winches, gloves, bars, logs, etc.
Safety
Supervise and maintain Fleet Safety Program
Ensure that drivers wear all required PPE such as steel toe boots, hi-vis and gloves
Distribute driver’s safety training newsletter for updates and training
Lead by example and promote a safety culture
Quality
Review and monitor drivers work quality

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Five years of multi-stop flatbed experience preferred, but not required. Individual must meet or exceed DOT medical requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
CDL Class-A with a clean driving record reflecting adherence to DOT regulations and traffic laws
