About this job:
In this role you will be a critical component to building and maintaining a best in class property reinsurance portfolio for a top rated reinsurer. On a day to day basis you will work with senior underwriters to produce a diverse book of property treaty business. This will include both analytical work inside the office and marketing with cedants and brokers outside the office. This role is part of a highly collaborative team in which decisions are made in an efficient and dynamic operating environment.
Accountabilities:
Assist with the underwriting of a book of commercial property treaty business. Underlying business is focused on the leading commercial property carriers (both admitted and non-admitted) along with niche carriers in the space .This will involve increasing responsibility over time and taking ownership of key clients.
Responsible for working and collaborating with colleagues internationally.
Conduct data analyses of historic internal and external data to inform underwriting strategy and appetite.
Conduct extensive reviews and analyses of treaty reinsurance opportunities, including underwriting audits, cedant visits and industry conferences.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and reinsurance brokers to cultivate continuous flow of treaty reinsurance opportunities.
Work in close collaboration with the actuarial, finance and claims teams to analyze and structure reinsurance programs.
Travel as required to meet with clients and brokers, attendconduct client reviews, and attend industry conferences. Plan on ~2x per month travel of 1-2 days.
Coordinate with department manager on the development and execution of the production and sales process including planning, marketing, operating routines, and portfolio monitoring.
Negotiate with brokers on new and renewal business and involve senior management in the process as needed.
Product Knowledge and Policy Command
Ability to understand and assess market trends.
Knowledge of and able to assess property policy language.
Understanding of basic Property underwriting concepts such as COPE, PML, and catastrophe modeling terminology.
Understanding of the US-domestic insurance marketplace, including the distribution dynamics between retail and wholesale carriers
