Job Description
The Laboratory Operations Associate supports the Science and Technology Toxins group in the coordination and scheduling of maintenance activities, inventory support, and business operations under the management of the S&
T Lab Operations team. The core responsibilities of the Laboratory Operations Associate are to schedule, plan, organize, and monitor performance of all tasks and materials required to ensure that maintenance and calibration of equipment and raw materials / consumables inventory meets all S&
T and operations requirements. They will coordinate the activities of technicians, vendors, support staff, or mechanics, along with other required resources and contractors, to ensure that all required scheduled and demand maintenance and calibration is performed and raw materials / consumables inventory is adequate to support the laboratory and customer needs. Some project assignments may be required for continuous laboratory improvements and support.
Responsibilities:
Schedules resources and personnel to ensure all guidelines and policies are adhered to, and provide adequate customer service. Acts as the liaison between maintenance, vendors, support teams and customers with S&
T Toxins area representatives.
Coordinates purchasing requirements (Purchase Order Request, Purchase Orders, p-card, Ariba, and Service Entries) to support budgetary requirements, including processing, review, approval, and monitoring of purchase orders and maintenance requirements as related to maintenance services and inventory and business operations such as Replicon Tracking, LRP/Plan forecasting, Blanket PO Inventory Purchasing, SLA / SOW outsourced support, Capital/Expense planning and execution, Project Engineering support coordination, and Services negotiated by PSM.
Makes decisions about work priority levels, scheduling strategies, cost savings, safety, inventory and vendor performance (where applicable) with minimal supervision from management.
Identifies and leads projects to improve maintenance productivity and work quality.
Supports other departmental efforts. Specifically including, but not limited to IS, BTS, Project Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, Facilities, EHS, Maintenance and Metrology.
Create work orders through Maximo for requesting departments. Makes tactical decisions regarding response time and level of planning based on priority of requested work. Able to prioritize various jobs among different customers.
Manages stock requirements to ensure adequate supplies for raw materials and consumables from third party suppliers (specifically including but not limited to Millipore Sigma, SAFC, Fisher Scientific, Invitrogen, Rainin, Sartorius Stedim, and VWR) and provide technical expertise for stockroom issues, labstock issues, and vendor lead times as requested.
Performs buffer and media preparation according to documented formulation requirements and occasionally executes lab protocols to support analytical and production schedules.
