Responsibilities of the Assistant Program Director are to provide assistance in the operation of a group home located in Schenectady, NY which services adults who have a psychiatric diagnosis. The goal is to work with the client in stabilizing while also providing rehabilitative services so he/she can transition to the next level of independence. This position will be consider the medication specialist and would work with doctor’s offices and the pharmacy to get the medications in the program for staff members to provide medication supervision with the clients. Specific duties included:
Assist the Program Director in providing oversight of the daily operation of the program;
client services, and staff supervision.
This position would specifically oversee the client medication process which includes medication time lining, order medications, obtain the necessary paperwork and prescription renewals from the doctors’ office. In addition, make sure that all medications are received, organized and available to staff who will work with the clients on filling their mediation organizers.
Train and provide support to staff as they provide client services, including supportive counseling to assist in stabilizing;
crisis prevention skills and coping skills;
crisis intervention;
medication supervision;
teaching of daily living skills;
and recreational activities.

Requirements
Skills/Qualifications for the Assistant Program Director include:
BA/BS in human services and 1-year experience in human services, Associates degree in human services with 3 years’ experience, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
Experience specifically working with the mentally ill population, medication supervision, and residential experience required;
Supervisory experience preferred;
Valid and insurable driver's license;
Experience or education in crisis intervention and prevention preferred;
Both the ability to work independently and as a team member;
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
and
The ability to be organized and have good time management skills
Benefits
Salary and Schedule of the Assistant Program Director:
40 hours per week.
$24.30/hour:
$50,544.00/annual equivalent. Overtime is available;
$36.45/overtime rate.
