Job Description
As an Assistant Merchant, you will work closely with our Merchandising team, primarily supporting the Greenery and Tree assortment for our flagship brand, Balsam Hill. In addition, you will be the main point of contact for our cross-functional teams managing the data and process for an on-time, successful launch of our décor products. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, thrives within a fast-pasted evolving environment, and will communicate with and provide support to our Merchant Team.
This full-time position reports to the Director of Merchandising, Trees &
Greenery and is expected to work in a hybrid model, which currently includes Tuesday and Wednesday in-office.
What you’ll do:

Request and maintain data for seasonal line lists, Product Information Forms (PIFs), and our Product Information Management system (PIM)
Communicate as needed with vendors on behalf of the Merchant Team regarding project and sample status, product information, and packaging/labeling needs
Ensure cross-functional teams have access to, and understanding of, relevant product information for successful launch
Review product information data from vendors to ensure accuracy
Order, track, and test photo samples;
coordinate movement of merchandise to sample rooms;
help maintain organization of sample room
Help manage the catalog pagination process by keeping track of all items on Spreads and prepare necessary documentation for internal and cross-functional partners
Assist Merchants with seasonal presentations with slides or visual boards
Manage catalog photo sample process, assist with photo shoots
Order, organize, and label catalog photo samples
Assist with proofing catalog and marketing content, to ensure data for both new and carryover products is accurate
Assist with other merchandising duties as needed
General administrative duties
Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Assist the merchant in reaching financial objectives and executing merchandising strategies
Analyze market trends and customer behavior to make decisions on product promotion, pricing, and life cycle
Build relationships with vendors, negotiating sales and resolving problems
Research pricing and merchandising strategies of competitors
Opportunity for growth into category management, depending on experience
What you bring to the table:

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
2+ years of experience in merchandising
Exceptional ability to organize and oversee tasks and projects
Intermediate to advanced skills using MS Excel
Structured thinking and problem solving
Passion for efficiency, processes, and data organization
Extremely detail-oriented
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast pace, often-changing environment required

The base pay range for this position is:
$79,000- $92,000. Where an individual falls within that range will vary based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on candidate qualifications and experience, applicable skills, and other job-related factors. We benchmark our pay ranges against current external data sources and regularly review compensation for our team members.
