Middlebury is seeking an Assistant Director of Annual Giving to collaborate with our Advancement team and help support the mission of the College as we continue our work in support of For Every Future:
The Campaign for Middlebury.
In this position, you will tell a compelling story to alumni donors and volunteers about a college working to redefine the liberal arts and sciences for the 21st century. With a global reach, a place-based Vermont campus, state-of-the-art environmental initiatives, and an entrepreneurial spirit, Middlebury is capturing the attention of people who want to be part of something exciting.
You will inspire and motivate volunteers, cultivate, and solicit donors for annual leadership gifts, collaborate across a fun and talented Advancement division, and play a key role in achieving our fundraising goals. This work directly supports the institution’s mission and helps launch talented students into lives of consequence. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with opportunity for growth within Advancement and across the College.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position with a starting salary range of $63,009- $78,787 per year.
Core Responsibilities:
Plan and execute extensive domestic travel, conducting 1:
1 small group visits with prospects and volunteers for assessment of interest, cultivation of connections, solicitation of gifts, and stewardship of past giving.
Manage at least one milestone Reunion program and a portfolio of defined classes;
recruit and manage volunteer committees, which fuel fundraising success and alumni connections.
Recruit, train, and solicit 100-200 class agent volunteers who will conduct peer-to-peer solicitations with classmates
Develop the solicitation strategy for a pool of leadership Annual Giving prospects
Collaborate extensively with annual giving, major gifts, planned gifts, principal gifts, and the alumni office to develop successful prospect engagement, cultivation, and solicitation strategies
Build and advance productive professional relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of Middlebury College in service to the College’s annual fundraising goals
Maintain in-depth knowledge of Middlebury’s priorities and be well-versed in its academic co-curricular, and student life programming.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
2 years of experience in development or related fields such as fundraising, foundation giving, education development program stewardship, capital campaigns or other fund solicitation roles. Experience in sales, and account or project management would also be considered.
Ability to cultivate long-term relationships with donor prospects
Ability to operate effectively with flexibility, creativity, and discretion
Committed to working in and fostering a diverse, inclusive, and positive environment
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Position requires working some evenings and weekends for events both on campus and on location
Nature of work involves that of a traditional office setting, desk, and computer, but allows for some hybrid flexibility
25% of the role will focus on required travel. Must have a valid driver’s license;
and ability to travel via air and public transport
