Assistant Deputy Commissioner Of Special Operations

Job Description
This high-level correctional management position assists the Deputy Commissioner of Operations with the daily functions of Special Operations. An employee in this class will prepare the Prison system emergency response plan for various emergency situations, including riots and natural disasters, and direct activities of special operational units, such as bike patrol, transportation, K-9, and the emergency response team. The work is performed under the direction of the Prisons Deputy Commissioner of Operations.
Essential Functions
The Assistant Commissioner develops recommendations to modify and establish departmental goals, objectives, and policies for special operations.
Responsible for touring the correctional facilities and ensuring compliance with established standards of security and special operations best practices.
Develop an analytical, operational plan for the special function to guide activities, including mission, goals, and objectives.
Confers with subordinate supervisors and managers on the unit activities and problems and reviews departmental policies.
Plans, develops and implements changes in procedures, training, and deployment of staff.
