Job Description
This is Correctional Social Services work at the Assistant Deputy Commissioner level. The person directs and coordinates programs for incarcerated individuals to reenter the community and workforce. The person also directs, through subordinate supervisors, a social service program designed to ensure the transition is successful. A holistic approach that provides services in behavioral health substance addiction, including counseling group sessions.
The work is performed under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of RTS.
Essential Functions
The Assistant Deputy Commissioner develops recommendations to modify and establish departmental goals, objectives, and policies for incarcerated individuals' reentry into the community.
Develop performance measures, collect data, and track program success.
Directs social services staff providing ongoing social services, including needs assessment, prerelease social transition services, and employment counseling and linkages to complementary services.
Confers with subordinate supervisors and managers about programs that conform to State and Local rules, regulations, and mandates.
Develop an analytical reentry plan to guide activities, including mission, goals, and objectives.
Function as a liaison between the Prisons, court, law enforcement, city departments, and community agencies.
Works in collaboration with City, State, and Federal Reentry Partners and community service providers.
