Job Description:
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations.
General Ledger &
Reconciliation:
Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records.
Internal Controls:
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls and procedures.
Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Budgeting &
Forecasting:
Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
Analyze budget variances and provide insights to management.
Assist in financial planning and analysis activities.
Accounts Payable &
Receivable:
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to AP/AR.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
Provide training and support to team members on accounting procedures and systems.
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Special Projects:
Assist in various special projects and initiatives as needed.
Support the implementation of new accounting systems or processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
