Job Title:
Area Manager

Overall Purpose:

Lead and manage 2 or more operation departments at the Mascot Rail Bearing site;
including OE, Reconditioning and/or Remanufacturing. Lead, Coach and mentor 2-4 supervisors and 50+/- associates;
Drive strategies achieve the best possible performance results in the areas of safety, product quality, delivery, reliability, product lead time, unit cost, customer satisfaction, and associate development.

Essential Functions:

  • The Area Manager supports, achieves and drives strategies for improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost through extensive Rail manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Area Managers are responsible for carrying out the prime directives of the Operations Manager which include:
  • Drive safety initiatives for responsible departments and implement improvement plans. Ensure ongoing operator safety and a safe work environment by promptly addressing safety hazards, minimizing workplace accidents, and actively involving associates in the continuous improvement of safety.
  • Ensuring quality and value-added work is made by every process in manufacturing, design, administration, and service
  • Guiding multiple departments to meet production demands through daily schedule attainment and communication in terms that are understandable to all associates for alignment purposes
  • Ensuring the on-time, correct, and complete delivery of parts, product, and services to the next process and customer
  • Kaizen to reduce cost through elimination of waste, overburdening, and fluctuation in area of responsibility
  • Building teamwork and maintaining team relations through professional challenges and educating associates. Strategic utilization of the Mascot optimal flexible workforce program
  • Ensure that parts produced match the timing and quantity requested with the highest yield the first time. Meet or exceed customer on time delivery demands.
  • Identify, support, and help implement programs designed to improve efficiency via revised production scheduling and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Materials Management Team to efficiently use and improve the availability of raw materials and component parts for production in both OE and Recon.
  • Meet or exceed all quality goals set;
    Monitor scrap and repair daily/weekly/monthly.
  • Identify lean project opportunities to support business plan needs.
  • This individual may generate and/or handle regulated (i.E. hazardous/non-hazardous) waste as part of this job. This must be disposed of in accordance with federal/state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree;
    Business Management, Engineering or related field;
    and equivalent experience
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Certified Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma training preferred
  • Strong leadership and critical thinking skills;
    Analytical skills - capturing and interpreting data
  • Training and facilitating skills;
    Group problem solving skills
  • SAP experience preferred
  • AAR, specifically M-1003 Quality Assurance Specification preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Verbal &
    written communication
  • Activities such as lifting, or pushing/pulling up to 50lbs
  • Activities where repetitive movement is required such as twisting/bending, hand gripping, etc.

Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to environmental noise, seasonal heat.

Protective Clothing and Personal Devices:
Safety glasses, safety shoes when in production and laboratory areas.
